Duke’s on Sunday - The Song

“People here and all over the world
Men, women, boys and pretty girls
Gather 'round by the seaside, Beach party.. tropic skies
Diamond head and palm trees, surf riders on the sea
This is the place to be, This is the place to be
On the beach at Waikiki, that's where you'll find me
Here on the southside, Beach Boys paradise.....”

Henry’s Duke’s on Sunday is consistently in his Top 10 streamed songs, purchased albums, and is a fan favorite worldwide.

“Good Times Will Set You Free. Just You & Me, This Is The Place To Be…”

A fan who loved Henry & “Duke’s on Sunday” included the late, great Jimmy Buffett. Jimmy was a friend, and had visited Henry at Duke’s, played at Duke’s, and became a fan of the event & the song. When he returned home after a visit, he called Henry and asked if he could record a version with his own spin on it. Henry was honored and it was released as the closing track on the 2006 album “Take the Weather with You”

“What a way to close an album. If you've ever been to Duke's, and seen Henry Kapono playing at Duke's in Waikīkī, you’ll know…I played there awhile back and listened to him do that song, it's a great song and a great way to finish out the album, and leave everybody smiling…and that's what this song was supposed to do.” ~Jimmy Buffett, Excerpt from Radio Margaritaville Interview - 2006
